Consider these things before getting an area rug

A rug can make your space look spacious or packed—depending on how well you can choose one that would best fit your area. Rugs are statements of your personal style and kick, and having the right one can transform your mundane room into a unique one.

Rug styles and patterns have to be considered. They’re more than just shapes. There are many styles to choose from. Before, traditional Persian and European rugs were the staples. However, nowadays the selection has grown. Bold floral designs, jutes and sisals, loud geometrics, and novelty rugs have all been added to the list. Your area rug shouldn’t be matching with everything in the room. It would be best to learn about what’s available. Do your research about the material so as to know what atmosphere it would bring to your room.

Color is as important as the pattern. If the rug color matches the room well, then you are setting the tone of your space just as it is supposed to be. Check if the color of the rug compliments the colors of your preexisting items in the room, as doing this can create harmony in the atmosphere. Decide whether you want your rug to blend in or stand out.

Area rug sizes matter. Sometimes the rugs are too small for the room and that’s a mistake. It’s best to make sure that the rug is placed at the center of room, and that the distance between the rug and the wall is the same for all the sides.
